I gifted my brother a Chinese gong

I gifted my brother an exquisite authentic Chinese gong. It produces a classic rich booming sound when my brother strikes it with its special mallet. I think this Chinese gong makes a beautiful and unusual classroom gift. Its long history makes it an interesting science project as well. According to Chinese tradition, gongs came from the country between Tibet and Burma. These gongs can be used in several ways. It is said that, in processions the gong drives away evil spirits, announces departure aboard a ship, frightens the “celestial dog” during eclipses when it is about to devour the moon, it is the signal on the outbreak of fire, and in songs it marks the tune.
