Avoiding Products That Can Cause Dry Mouth Will Help Prevent Bad Breath

Dec 07, 2007 in General, Health

Avoid any behaviors/products that cause dehydration-saliva naturally controls the harmful bacteria population because they do not breed quickly in well-oxygenated environments (and saliva is rich in oxygen). Dehydration leads to Xerostomia (dry mouth) and will lower your saliva levels and the body’s natural ability to prevent bad breath. And remember, even some bad breath remedies may lead to dry mouth and worse problems with halitosis if they are made with chemicals and other harsh ingredients that are likely to cause side effects. Chew on hard candy or sugarless gum to stimulate salivation. Brush and floss daily to remove plaque (which helps bacteria grow faster and can lead to gum disease and bigger oral health problems).
